Dasta will work to develop the potential of local communities while the TAT will promote the destination to domestic and international tourists. Initially five communities will take part in the program; Thale Noi community in Phatthalung, Takien Tia in Chon Buri, Ban Laem in Suphan Buri, Ban Sanuan Nok in Buri Ram and Ban Sun Lom Joy in Chiang Mai. By the end of the project in 2021 the team predicts there will be 80 such communities scattered through Thailand as tourists habits change to smaller groups seeking unique experiences.

The board also approved a 50 percent reduction in landing fee for international charter flights at six airports under the AOT for a period of five months.
